Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. yesterday urged transportation companies, particularly the Light Rail Transport Authority, to allow free rides on Christmas Day.
Marcos said free train rides would allow more families to spend time together and visit their relatives and friends on Christmas.
“Christmas is family day. Children would go to visit their godparents to receive a blessing and a gift and many families go out together and enjoy,” Marcos said.
Marcos said the free rides could very well serve as Christmas gift to families facing financial hardship, particularly the victims of devastating typhoons that hit the country this year.
“Since many of them could not afford buying gifts for their children, they just opt to bring them to parks and zoos and free rides at the MRT and LRT can be of great help to them,” Marcos said.

celebrations and at rush hours — from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Marcos said free Christmas rides at the MRT and LRT could be “a way to celebrate and also offer some relief from high prices of goods and services to commuters.” Gerry Baldo
