Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao on early Friday took his oath as the newest member of Nacionalista Party of presidential hopeful Senator Manuel Villar Jr.
Villar himself led the oath-taking ceremony held at Pacquiao's mansion in General Santos City where the boxing phenomenon celebrated his 31st birthday.
Pacquiao is seeking a congressional post in Saranggani province, hometown of his wife Jinkee.
With Villar was Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who is seeking a Senate seat in the 2010 polls.
Aside from Pacquiao, other candidates for various local posts in Saranggani also took their oaths as NP members before Villar. - Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMANews.TV
