Only 17 percent of Pampanga voters are in favor of President Arroyo running for Congress in 2010, results of a survey conducted by research organization Ibon Foundation showed.
In a nationwide survey conducted continued stay in government as a Pampanga representative.
The latest figure is higher than the July result with 82.01 percent against Mrs. Arroyo’s candidacy.
The Ibon survey also said that contrary to reports that many Pampanga voters want President Arroyo to run for Congress in 2010, results of the latest poll showed otherwise.
When Pampanga residents were asked if they were aware of reports that the President will run as a Pampanga representative after her term ends in 2010, 76.5 percent said they were aware.
Of those aware, 16.9 percent said they were in favor of President Arroyo’s stay in government, but 44.6 percent of Pampanga voters said they were not in favor.
The remaining 38.46 percent were unsure of their answer.
The latest survey also showed that majority of Filipinos believes poll automation will not address the problem of electoral fraud in the country.
The Commission on Elections will be implementing automated polls in the country for the first time in 2010 in an effort to minimize electoral fraud.
Among the 88.5 percent of poll respondents who are aware of the poll automation program, 56.5 percent said they believe that it will not solve fraud in the coming elections.
The October 2009 survey used a multi-stage probability sampling scheme and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
