But Ermita, chairman of the Lakas-Kampi national advisory council, said he still has no idea whether Arroyo would seek a congressional seat in the 2010 elections. He said that contrary to reports, he has not signed a certificate of nomination for the President.
Ermita said there is no need for Arroyo to consult the leaders of her own party.
"How could a lesser mortal especially in politics attempt to give an advice to somebody who is much superior to us in political matters?’ Ermita said.
He said Arroyo’s political moves are considered high-profile not only because she is the president but because of her status as Lakas-Kampi-CMD president emeritus.
He said it is expected that "non-lovers" of Arroyo will react negatively if she runs in Pampanga although it will be different with her supporters.
Ermita said what is important is to ensure that there is legal basis for Arroyo’s actions if ever she runs. – Regina Bengco
