Saying she learned her lesson after her unsuccessful foray in politics in 2007, sexy comedienne Angelica Jones joined Senator Manny Villar's Nacionalista Party in preparation for next year's elections.

Jones, who is planning to seek a post in the provincial board of the 3rd district of Laguna for the second time, took her oath before Villar Wednesday afternoon together with Laguna vice governor Ramil Hernandez, Los Baños Mayor Caesar Perez, and Hernandez’ wife Councilor Ruth Hernandez.

Vice Governor Hernandez, a former member of United Opposition, is eyeing the gubernatorial post with Perez as his running mate.

Jones ran for provincial board member under the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) in the 2007 polls. She lost due to what she claimed was the party's “failure to provide her with watchers to guard her votes."

In a phone interview with GMANews.TV, Jones said she personally asked Villar to help her in securing her votes.

“Nag-usap kami. Sinabi ko sa kanya na ‘wag niya akong pabayaan (sa eleksyon). Hiniling ko sa kanya na bigyan ako ng watcher. Nakita ko naman ang nagawa ni Senator Villar, I know nasa tamang partido ako. Sigurado akong mababantayan nila ang boto ko," she said.

She said three parties have been convincing her to join them but she chose NP.

The celebrity added that she had been inactive in the show business for seven months now to focus on her projects for her town mates.

“Hindi ako active ngayon sa TV, puro commercial, guestings at recording lang. Mahirap pagsabayin e. Dapat makita ng tao na hindi lang ako artista kundi public servant," she said.

Aside from Jones, other show business personalities reportedly planning to run in the 2010 elections are Cesar Montano for gubernatorial post in Bohol; Richard Gomez; Dan Fernandez; Edu Manzano; Quezon City Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista; QC councilor Aiko Melendez; and Ara Mina.

Aside from Jones, other politicians who formally joined NP Wednesday were Vice-Governors Odi Fausto of Cagayan, Windell Chua of Ilocos Norte, and Pasencia “Pasing" Bacani of Quirino

Fausto, a long-time member of the Liberal Party and former president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Cagayan for 12 years, will be running for reelection in the 2010 elections.

Vice-Governor Chua from KBL was accompanied by Ilocos Norte Rep Ferdinand “Bongbong" Marcos Jr, who also earlier graced the Partido Magdalo Convention in Cavite which backed Villar. Meanwhile, Vice-Governor Bacani defected to NP from Kampi.

The four vice-governors’ defection followed the recent oathtaking of four governors from Lakas: Luis Raymund “LRay" Villafuerte Jr. of Camarines Sur, Rogelio “Roger" Espina of Biliran, Douglas “Dodo" Cagas of Davao del Sur, and Robert Ace Barbers of Surigao del Norte. - GMANews.TV
