As far as a group of militant teachers is concerned, the Sexbomb Dancers have so far been more efficient than the government in educating voters on the nitty gritty of automated elections.

The popular dance group’s hit music video, “May Bilog na Hugis Itlog," has at least familiarized the public with the automated poll process, which the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is yet to fully accomplish, according to Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC).

“The GMA 7-sponsored Sexbomb Dancers hit ‘May Bilog na Hugis Itlog’ is better than Comelec and it has at least familiarized the voters with this high-tech system," said TDC president Benjo Basas in a statement released Sunday.

An October survey of Pulse showed that six of 10 Filipinos have very little or no knowledge about the computerized poll system.

The catchy tune “Bilog na Hugis Itlog" is GMA Network’s instructional jingle for the May 10, 2010 elections.

In the same statement, the TDC also pressed the Comelec to, if possible, start this month the training of teachers who would sit as Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) in the upcoming polls, saying February would be a busy month for most of them.

“By February, we will be busy in school tasks -- review for achievement tests, accomplishment of forms, year-end activities. We may not have time for trainings because the school obligations are our priority," said TDC president Benjo Basas.

The group noted that the Comelec’s first task should be to identify who among the more than 500,000 teachers are qualified to sit as BEIs.

The Comelec had earlier announced that it would be training some 300,000 teachers to participate in this year’s automated elections, the first one in the country on a national scale. - KBK, GMANews.TV
