Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. said yesterday he was unperturbed by the latest public opinion poll because he is gaining ground in time for the May elections.

“We are making excellent progress,” Teodoro said when asked whether he was disturbed by the lead posted by presidential candidates Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Manny Villar and former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada.

“Voting results and not poll surveys will determine the victors in next year’s presidential race,” the former Defense chief said, stressing the election is four months away and a lot of things could happen.

Barely a month after being formally named by the Lakas-Kampi-CMD as its standard-bearer, Teodoro’s rating climbed to five percent in the latest Pulse Asia survey, up by three percentage points from the previous survey.

Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, spokesman for Teodoro, expressed optimism on the presidential victory of Lakas-Kampi-CMD candidate.

“The election is more than four months away and we continue to be encouraged by the growing excitement that Secretary Gibo Teodoro has begun to generate among young and thoughtful Filipinos in many areas of the country,” Magsaysay said.

She added: “We are confident that his ratings will climb dramatically as more Filipinos get to know his program of government, his character and his integrity in public office as the epitome of the new generation of high-achieving Filipino leaders. More recent mock polls in colleges and universities and in the business community are pointing to this direction convincingly.”

In the Pre-Election Survey by Pulse Asia from Dec. 8 to 10, Aquino led by a “sizeable margin” against his opponents. He is followed by Villar (second), Estrada (third) and Teodoro (fourth).
