SENATE President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. jumped 16.1 percent in the ratings in the Dec. 8 to 10 survey conducted by Pulse Asia.

Among the 1,800 respondents surveyed, only three out of 10 reported having a full roster of senatorial candidates five months before the May 2010 elections, a sharp drop from the 57 percent registered in the August survey also of Pulse Asia.

“While Filipinos were naming a mean of 10 and a median of 12 favored prospective candidates in August, the mean and median are down to eight” in the Dec. 8 to 10 survey, Pulse Asia reported Monday.

Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada topped the list of prefered senatorial candidates with 55.1 percent, followed by Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. at 52.7 percent, and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago at 51.4 percent.

The three were followed by former Senate President Franklin Drilon, Senator Pia Cayetano, former Economic Planning Secretary Ralph Recto, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, former Senator Sergio OsmeƱa III, TV actor and former Senator Vicente Sotto III, Rep. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Rep. Teofisto Guingona III, businessman Jose de Venecia III, Senator Manuel Lapid, and Rep. Rozanno Rufino Biazon.

The 14, out of the 80 candidates, had a statistical chance of winning, Pulse Asia said.

Pulse Asia said the survey used face-to-face interviews following such news as the declaration of martial law in Maguindanao, the unseating of Bulacan Gov. Joselito Mendoza and Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca, and the disqualification cases filed against President Gloria Arroyo after she had filed her candidacy for the second congressional district of Pampanga.
