MANILA, Philippines – Delegates from different religious denominations have expressed their full support for the presidential bid of Bro. Eddie Villanueva of the Bangon Pilipinas Party.

“Bro. Eddie is our official candidate in 2010,” said Dr. Claro Loquias of Believers’ Action Towards Prosperity, Truth, Integrity for the State’s Transformation (Baptist) Philippines Incorporated as he presented a medallion of support to the presidential candidate
.

Baptist Philippines Inc. is a 36,000-strong coalition of church leaders in Mindanao.

“Genuine change that could bring about the much needed national emancipation from poverty could only come from a leader who fears God and loves his fellow man. Thus, we give our full support to Bro. Eddie,” Loquias said.

The statement of support to Villanueva marks the first time Christian churches and pastors in Mindanao have issued a unanimous public declaration of support to candidates.

In Davao City, over 100 Ministers from the Davao Pentecostal Fellowship of Ministers, an umbrella organization of different churches in Davao provinces, also publicly declared their support to Villanueva.

“We commit to support his candidacy and persuade others to do the same. We also commit ourselves to be watchmen not only during the period of election but even after the election,” said the endorsement issued by the Pentecostal Ministers.

No less than 500 pastors and church leaders also attended the public declaration of support to Villanueva in the cities of Digos and Tagum.
