CAN they do it again?

Cebu province will reprise the victory it gave President Macapagal-Arroyo in 2004 and deliver one million votes, this time to the standard-bearer of her party, Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr., next year.

The assurance was made by Carlos Fortuna, chief legal counsel of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines and vice mayor of Mandaue City.

“Mandaue and Cebu can give Gibo one million votes in the elections,” said Fortuna following a visit, the second in as many weeks, to Cebu by Teodoro.

“Our people like Gibo for his intelligence, integrity and leadership style,” said Fortuna of the presidential candidate of the administration Lakas-Kampi-CMD party.

During his first visit to Cebu last week, Teodoro was endorsed by the One Cebu Party headed by Gov. Gwen Garcia.

Garcia had called the former defense secretary “hands down the best choice among the presidential front-runners to lead the country.”

Garcia said Cebuanos saw Teodoro as the “most competent and qualified presidential bet.”

Teodoro also “best represents One Cebu Party’s ideals of competence and excellence in public service,” she said.

Cebu has the biggest number of voters of the country’s 80 provinces. In 2004, it delivered a one-million vote margin to President Arroyo who handily beat actor Fernando Poe Jr.
