Not even the filing of an amended complaint tagging former President Joseph Estrada in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case would stop him from announcing his plan to reclaim the country’s highest post, his son, San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito, said Tuesday.

“It is distressing that the name of President Joseph Estrada is stringed anew with series of cases acted upon by Malacaňang to stop his bid for candidacy in the 2010 election," Ejercito said in a press statement.

The elder Estrada is set to proclaim his plan to run again for president in 2010 at the United Opposition (UNO) national convention on Wednesday afternoon at Plaza Amado V. Hernandez in Moriones, Tondo.

The former state leader is also expected to officially announce his running mate, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, and UNO’s senatorial line-up which will he headed by Partido ng Masang Pilipino chairman emeritus, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, and Estrada's son, Senate ProTempore Jose 'Jinggoy' Estrada.

On the same day, the daughters of publicist Salvador ‘Bubby’ Dacer - Carina Lim, Sabina Reyes, Emily Hungerford and Amparo Henson – are set to file an amended complaint to include Estrada in the nine-year-old case. [See: Dacer daughters link Erap in murder case]

Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito were abducted and killed in November 2000 allegedly by members of the now defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) under then Philippine National Police chief (now senator) Panfilo Lacson upon the orders of Estrada.

Estrada and his family have repeatedly denied this accusation.

“Our family’s conscience is clean. We do not have any criminal blood! And we know that in the right time and in a proper court, this will be proven true by President Estrada," Ejercito said in the same press statement.

With this, the San Juan mayor appealed to the Dacers to be wary of the possible exploitation and political ploys Malacaňang and its allies will use to take advantage of the situation.

“Know that these are series of effort from Malacaňang to prove President Estrada to be a criminal, as to hinder his plans to return into politics," Ejercito said. - GMANews.TV
